Have you ever left a home behind?
A soulful gallery of expressive, abstract artworks inspired by motherhood, migration, and memory — for those who live between cultures and identities.

Abstract Art Inspired by Memory, Identity & Belonging
Art that speaks the language of becoming
Each piece in this collection blends emotion with experience, capturing the in-between moments of change — quiet, fierce, and deeply personal.
Have you ever left a home behind?
This collection was painted in two countries, across two worlds. From the beaches of my Malaysian hometown to the quiet corners of Bavaria, these works hold the emotions of returning, remembering, and rebuilding.
Each painting was created while my children played beside me—and carries the textures of sand, silence, and story.
"Between Tides" is for anyone who has ever stood between where they were and where they are becoming.

About the Collection
“Between Tides: Finding Home Again” was born in a season of return — not just to a place, but to a part of myself I had quietly tucked away.
I moved to Germany in 2017 as a trailing spouse, full of hope and uncertainty. Like many women in my shoes, I dove into the deep end of integration: learning a new language, adapting to a new culture, navigating unfamiliar systems — all while becoming a mother, twice.
Somewhere between diapers, Deutschkurse, and doing-my-best, the years slipped by. Seven of them.
In 2024, I finally returned to my coastal hometown in Malaysia — now as a mother, wife, and artist shaped by two worlds. For the first time, I stood still long enough to feel it all: the weight I had carried, the softness I had lost, and the part of me still longing to belong.
Four of these paintings were created beside the sea, while my children played nearby — quiet moments that were just for me. The fifth, Prelude, was painted back in Bavaria, where memory and presence met in stillness.
These works carry salt air and silence. Longing and lightness.
They are for anyone who has tried to build a life in a new language.
Who has smiled through homesickness at the playground.
Who has walked into rooms full of strangers and stayed.
They are for women like you — and me — who are still learning that home isn’t always a place.
Sometimes, it’s a feeling we paint our way back to.
👉 The final piece in this collection — Prelude — will be released at the end of summer. Join my newsletter to be the first to see it.

Fading Sand
The Artworks
Each of these paintings is more than a composition — it’s a memory, a moment, a milestone.
Created between Malaysia and Germany, they carry the textures of sand, silence, joy, and ache.
They were painted while my children played beside me — in moments that felt borrowed from time.
These pieces are for women who know what it means to build a life across languages, and to make beauty out of both longing and love.

Heatwave

A sensory storm of returning home
Painted on the beaches of Malaysia after seven long years away.
The heat, the smells, the language I had once spoken fluently — everything crashed back in, all at once.
The colors are loud because the memories were loud. This is not a gentle homecoming. This is grief and joy in the same breath.
For anyone who’s ever gone back — and realized they’re not who they were.
This piece roars. It reminds you that healing doesn’t whisper; sometimes, it burns through you to make space.
Salty Breeze
The softness of acceptance
This one is gentle. Light brushstrokes. Sea air. The feeling of finally breathing again.
I painted this while watching my kids run freely along the beach. For the first time, I felt okay in both places — not torn between Malaysia and Germany, but held by both.
It brings peace. It’s a visual sigh of relief for women learning to carry less guilt, more grace.A favorite for bedrooms, studios, or quiet corners of the home.

Where Ocean Meets

Standing on the edge of who you were and who you’re becoming
This painting lives at the border — where land ends and sea begins.
It’s about the blurry place between past and future. Where the ocean washes some things away… and gives something back.
It’s about becoming someone new — slowly, fully, and unapologetically.
It speaks to transformation. For women rebuilding their lives, reinventing their identities, or reconnecting to who they were — this piece whispers, “You are allowed to begin again.”
Fading Sand
What we lose to build something new
Painted beside the sea with my children’s laughter echoing behind me.
I looked at the sand — the same one from my childhood — and realized it felt different under my feet.
This painting is about change. About how memory softens, and how we sometimes let go — not because we stop loving, but because we need both hands to build a new life.
It holds the ache of transition — familiar to anyone who’s ever had to say goodbye without saying it out loud. Quiet, poignant.

Who This Collection Is For
This collection is for quiet, resilient women:
-
Who’ve crossed borders and built new lives
-
Who’ve mothered others while rediscovering themselves
-
Who’ve navigated languages, loss, and longing
It’s also for anyone who has ever stood “between tides” — unsure where the shore is, but still moving forward.
About the Artist
I’m Fizah — an artist, live event illustrator, and mother of two, building a creative life between cultures.
Originally trained in Medical Biochemistry, I moved from Malaysia to Germany in 2017 as a trailing spouse — full of hope, uncertainty, and love. What followed were years of language courses, cultural adjustment, raising two children far from family, and trying to build a life in a place where everything felt new.
Somewhere in that process, I lost — and then found — myself again through art.
I began by sketching my surroundings as a way to integrate. With a pen in hand, I wandered the streets in Erlangen with sketchbook always in my handbag— drawing houses, markets, parks, people. It helped me understand my new home, connect with strangers, and slowly belong. Today, many of those pages have become art prints — small, heartfelt windows into my journey of home-making.
As my creative path expanded, so did my offerings. Now, I also offer Live Event Illustration — a deeply personal service where I attend weddings, business events, and private gatherings to sketch guests live on the spot. These portraits are cherished keepsakes, and the experience itself becomes a form of connection and storytelling — something guests talk about long after the party is over.
My fine art is more introspective — often abstract, emotional, and rooted in themes like motherhood, migration, and memory. I paint from lived experience, often while my children play nearby. Every layer of color carries the weight of homesickness, joy, uncertainty, and resilience.
These works aren’t just beautiful. They’re brave.
They’re for women who’ve crossed oceans, started over, and are still trying to feel whole again.
I don’t paint to impress. I paint to connect — to help you see yourself in the in-between, and to remind you that your journey is worthy of beauty, too.
So whether you’re here to collect a fine art piece, commission a sketch for a loved one, or invite me to your next event — know this:
You’re not just supporting an artist.
You’re becoming part of a story about home, healing, and the art of becoming.
