Motherhood Collection: A Journey of Healing, Trauma, and Transformation

The "Motherhood" collection is a series of artworks created between June and September 2023, each exploring my personal experiences of postpartum trauma and recovery.
This collection symbolizes the emotional complexity of becoming a mother, the challenges of healing from postpartum depression, and the profound transformation that follows.

As I paint in my home studio—often shared with my children—these pieces reflect the real-life balance of motherhood. Created between the chaotic moments of raising two young children, these artworks are both deeply personal and universal, capturing the resilience, joy, and pain that motherhood brings.

The first piece in this series, "Out of My Mind" (150 x 100 cm), portrays a woman—myself—facing sideways, her eyes covered by delicate roses. The roses symbolize my transformation, the newfound beauty and strength I discovered after emerging from the darkness of postpartum depression. Surrounding the woman are sunflowers, which I encountered during walks with my children, a reminder of the light I sought and eventually found.

The second piece, "Sunflowers of Healing" (100 x 70 cm), is a vibrant acrylic painting of three sunflowers, representing my journey from darkness to light. Each sunflower is a testament to the strength it took to heal, with their bright yellow petals symbolizing hope and renewal.
