2021 - Down the Rabbit Hole: Virtual Urban Sketches of Erlangen

he 2021 calendar, titled "Down the Rabbit Hole," is a deeply personal collection of 12 virtual urban sketches created during the height of the pandemic lockdowns. Unable to explore the city physically, I turned to my phone, relying on photos and memories to create these sketches. The world was filled with uncertainty, fear, and isolation, but through this project, I found a way to reconnect with Erlangen and the places that had once brought me joy.

Each month reveals a different view of the city, from the peaceful Schlossgarten to the historic streets and parks of Erlangen. While these sketches were created from home, they carry the energy and memories of the places I love. The cover artwork represents the entrance into the unknown—just as the pandemic thrust us all into an unfamiliar reality, so too does this artwork evoke the feeling of stepping into a new and uncharted world.

Through this collection, I hope to remind others of the importance of finding beauty in small moments and maintaining connection, even when the world feels distant.
